If you've ever been lucky enough to catch an episode of the British comedy series Darkplace you'll already be familiar with a figure like Guy N. Smith in the form of that show's fictional hero, Garth Marenghi.
Like Smith, Garth's a horror writer, dream weaver and fabulist who churns out paperback books to order, with titles the likes of which you'll never believe.
When I turned 19, Joe posted me some treats from England, where he was living at the time. One of them was a copy of Origin Of The Crabs from 1979. I've just spent an hour laughing at the following jacket designs, and also wondering how one man can have so many amazing ideas in his mortal head.
